The first associations that most people have about our country are the inventor Nikola Tesla, the world tennis champion Novak Djokovic, Serbian food and many others. These people and things are known both in Serbia and around the world. However, Serbia does not cease to surprise, which is why we have singled out few more interesting facts that may have been unknown to you until now.<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019ll start with what is less known in the world about history of our country. We have already mentioned some of the things so far in the text about Belgrade<\/a>, such as the data on the first tram in this city, the first Serbian cafe and the past of Slavija.<\/span><\/p>\n

What most people know about our history is that the Serbs were under the Turks for 500 years, however, this information is not valid, because the exact number of years is 345. In addition, this period is related to the fact that the Church of the Ascension of the Lord in Cacak is three times changed into a mosque.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our letter has also undergone many changes over the centuries, but the interesting thing about it is that the Miroslav Gospel from the 12th century is the most important Cyrillic manuscript of Serbian-Slavic literacy, and that our Emperor Stefan Uros IV Dusan signed certain charters in Greek and Latin. in the Old Serbian language using the Cyrillic alphabet.<\/span><\/p>\n

The warmest mineral water in Europe is located in Serbia, more precisely in Vranjska Banja. Its temperature ranges from 94\u00b0 to 110\u00b0 and erupts on the earth’s surface from about 10 sources with a capacity of 140 l\/s. Although known, this spa is not the most visited in our country, but this title belongs to Vrnja\u010dka Banja, which is also the largest spa in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

As many as 33 mountain peaks have an altitude of over 2000 meters, and the highest peak is Velika Rudoka, which is located on the Sharr Mountains and is 2660 meters high. Another well-known, if not the most famous Serbian mountain, Kopaonik, has another name next to this one, and that is Sunny Mountain, because there are about 200 sunny days during the year.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the shortest rivers in Serbia, Vrelo, is 365 meters long, which is why it is known by another name \u2013 Godina (Year). On the other hand, the longest river in Serbia is the Velika Morava, which is formed by merging the South and its longer tributaries, the West Morava, with which it reaches a length of 493 km. The second deepest canyon in Europe, right after the Tara canyon in Montenegro, is the Drina canyon in Western Serbia.<\/span><\/p>\n
