March in Belgrade

The winter days are slowly coming to an end as we approach March, and apart from spring, this month we will have a lot of interesting festivals and fairs in Belgrade, which we will write about below.

Tenth Belgrade Irish Festival

From March 11th to 20th, the Belgrade Irish Festival, better known as BIF, will be held at several locations in Belgrade this year. Before the beginning of the festival, an exhibition of photographs by Andrew Kathleen will be set up in the open space of the Sava Promenade on March 1st. You will be able to see selected photos of Irish musicians such as Bono, Sinéad O’Connor, Christy Moore, Liam Ó Maonlaí, whose performance is scheduled for March 18th as part of this festival. In addition to this, the famous artist Holly Pereira will start painting a large mural inspired by weaving a Pirot rug on March 7th in Marsala Birjuzova Street. The official program starts on March 11, and besides mentioned things above, you will be able to watch some of the award-winning documentaries of Irish cinema. During the festival, the Palace of Albania, the Bridge on Ada, the Hotel Moskva, Branko’s Bridge and the fountain on Slavija will shine green, which is the symbol of Ireland.

Testival

If you are a fan of gastronomy, Testival is a festival you should not miss. It will be held on March 5th and 6th at the Belgrade Youth Center with the slogan “Testival – where the dough breathes and smells!” The goal of the festival is to show its participants and visitors how to work on preserving tradition and intangible cultural heritage, as well as how to eat healthy with Serbian cuisine. Due to the fact that puff pastry and so-called salcici (Pork fat puff pastry) are the main topic of the fourth Festival, this year the winner for the best salcici on the territory of the whole of Serbia will be announced. With Dejan Ilić, a professional chef, you will also learn how to arrange meals, with fruit and vegetable carving. Entrance prices are 250 dinars each, and you will be able to buy them at the box office of the Youth Center during the period when this festival lasts – from 10 am to 8 pm.

Belgrade Fair

This March, more precisely from March 24th to 27th, the 43rd International Tourism Fair will be held, as well as HORECA – International Fair of Hotel and Catering Equipment. The better weather that awaits us will surely awaken in you the desire to travel, which is why we advise you to organize your vacation on time. A large number of exhibitors from all over the world will take part in the Tourism Fair, but this is also a place where you can learn more about Belgrade and other destinations that Serbia has offer. You will get an insight into current trends through the educational program of the Fair, as well as access to a database that will allow you to schedule meetings with exhibitors to better inform yourself about your future trip. On the other hand, HORECA will exhibit the most modern products and services of restaurants and other catering facilities to its visitors. During these two events, you will be able to try the wines of leading producers, because the twelfth Wine Fair will be held on March 25th and 26th.

We hope that we have helped you plan your March in advance and that you will have fun at these and maybe some other events that await us in the coming days.
