October days in Belgrade

From a long hot summer we slipped into the fall. Belgrade is slowly changing its colors. Soon the parks will take on a golden red tone, and walking through them will be a whole new experience. In the meantime, let’s see what is worth paying a visit in October, if you find yourself on the streets of Belgrade.

International beekeeping fair

Meteorologists are saying we should expect a sunny first weekend in October. Take the opportunity to walk in one of the favorite Belgrade parks, Tašmajdan, and visit the 47th International Beekeeping Fair “Tašmajdan 2021”. You can try a variety of flavors, because honey production has reached the level of gastronomic magic in the last decade. Sophisticated flavors are enriched with pine needles, cinnamon or other spices and herbs. At this event, in addition to bee products, beekeeping equipment will be presented, as well as registered medicines against bee diseases and literature on beekeeping.

Remember, honey and other bee products such as propolis are important factors in the fight to strengthen immunity, and at the same time they are extremely tasty.

Free astronomy course

Do you believe that we are the only inhabited planet, are you open to the possibility that there is another similar form of life? Are you fascinated by the infinite universe, stars and constellations? This fall, the Center for the Promotion of Science and the Astronomical Society “Ruđer Bošković” organized a free astronomy course at the Planetarium on Kalemegdan Fortress. It is that white building with a hemispherical roof, located in the Lower Town of the Belgrade Fortress in the former hammam, below Ružica church and the chapel of St. Petka. Course participants have the honor of learning about human discoveries about Earth and other planets, stars and galaxies. The lectures are complemented by illustrations and planetarium projections.

Lectures will be held every Friday (17-19PM) and Saturday (16-18PM).

For all those who are “crazy” about space, this is the right opportunity to get to know it in more detail.

Belgrade book fair

Certainly the biggest event that awaits us in October is the 65th International Book Fair, which is traditionally held on the last week of the month. This is one of the oldest and most important literary events in the region. It enables foreign and domestic publishers, authors, booksellers, librarians to exchange experiences and achieve other types of business and cultural cooperation. At the same time, all visitors can enjoy a wide range of all major publishers in one place. Maybe this is where you will find a rare copy of the manuscript of your favorite writer. If you are more focused on contemporary literature, there is a chance that your favorite writer will be a guest, so study carefully who the guests of the fair are.

We remind you that this year’s fair will be held from October 24th to 31st, and an excellent selection of books with an accompanying program awaits you. Through numerous promotions, presentations, lectures, round tables and tribunes, the participants present to the professional and wide audience, topics important for literature, publishing and culture.

Of course, these are just a few suggestions of what to do in Belgrade in October. Be sure to take advantage of all the beautiful and sunny days ahead of us to tour the galleries, parks and promenades along the rivers. We are also waiting for you on our deck for panoramic sightseeing of Belgrade from the rivers or celebrations of various kinds.
